Avantiya Health, LLC has entered into a partnership with Polestar Laboratories, Inc., to create a joint entity named Avantiya Polestar Diagnostic Services, Inc. APDS will create a network of diagnostic testing labs in India. This venture would consist of a central processing laboratory with a strong storefront presence in Chennai and/or Bangalore. Phlebotomists will be hired by APDS to man draw stations at small hospitals (15-50 bed) and mom-n-pop physician offices. Samples will then be transported to the central processing laboratory and results delivered via the internet to the physician offices and hospitals within 24 hours. In addition to this, Polestar Labs is also considering sending samples from their US collection sites to India for processing by packaging them in dry ice and using commercial airlines to transport these samples to the lab in India. The goal of this entity is to create similar labs in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities within India using the College of American Pathology (CAP) benchmarking standards. Avanitya Health, LLC has been investigating this business option since Nov 2006, and toured existing labs and diagnostic centers during their visits to India in 2007 and early 2008. They found that there is no clear methodology or standard operating procedure that is currently utilized in India. This compromises the quality of samples drawn and results delivered. The physical facilities do not appear to be very clean and standard infection control procedures are not applied. With this observation, APDS feels strongly that an American owned and operated diagnostic center would be very well received by a market that is no longer price sensitive but is increasingly quality sensitive. APDS will create these centers to address the lifestyle disease management model addressing such lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular illnesses, stress and hypertension, women’s health, etc. More information on Polestar Labs can be found at http://www.polestarlabs.com .
